Our Travel Plans

The wonderful Ayumi put together the official plans in an Excel file we're sharing. Below is a quick summary of how our trip is going to look. Expect lots of pictures, a video or two, and maybe even some writing (depending on our mood).

19 Dec: Arrive NRT, in Tokyo; stay at Shinagawa Prince Hotel
TODOs in Tokyo:

• Bouldering at B-BUMP
• Tsukiji Fish Market
• Tokyo Skytree
• Meet with Ayumi's friends
• Purikura (tl;dr Crazy Japanese Photo Booth)

22 Dec: Ayumi goes to Kanazawa for a night; Nick, Caleb & Erin stay in Tokyo
TODOs for the Three Gaijin:

• Wander around Akihabara
• Karaoke (ADORES Akihabara)
• Arcade (Taito Station Akihabara)
• Hang out in an Izakaya

23 Dec: Ayumi leaves Kanazawa; Nick, Caleb & Erin leave Tokyo; meet in Kyoto; stay at Apa Hotel
TODOs in Kyoto:

• Fushimi Inari Shrine
• Omrice at Kichi Kichi (video)
• Kinkaku-ji
• Kitano Tenmangu
• Kiyomizu-dera
• Nijo Castle
• Dinner at Ifuki (2 Michelin stars)

25 Dec: Travel to Hiroshima for the day, then to Fukuoka; stay at Hakata Tokyu REI Hotel
TODOs in Hiroshima:

• Ferry to Miyajima
• Visit World Heritage Site Itsukushima Shrine

TODOs in Fukuoka:

• Yatai on the Waterfront
• Meet with Ayumi's friends
• Bouldering at Bravo Climbing

27 Dec: Take Yufuin-no-Mori train to the town of Yufuin; stay at Yadoya Ohashi

28 Dec: Explore Yufuin, then return to Fukuoka (same hotel)
TODOs in Yufuin:

• See the whole town (it's tiny)
• Visit the Studio Ghibli shop

29 Dec: Caleb & Erin fly to HND and stay in Tokyo (same hotel)

30 Dec: Nick & Ayumi travel to Yoshii and stay with family

31 Dec: Caleb & Erin fly from NRT to PDX

...That's it! Or at least the biggest chunk. Caleb & Erin will surely have something to show for their last couple days in Tokyo, and Ayumi and I will share photos from our time with the family.
